Hello there! Pretty Ladies…
Let’s start from the basic question comes to our mind while considering to taking care of our most valuable bras/lingerie, “How often should I be washing my bras?”
Bras can be worn 2-3 times before washing. Be sure to give your bra a rest day in between wearing to give the elastic a chance to regain its shape. Use your sound judgement, if you notice your bra is looking dingy, smells a little funky, or you can’t remember the last time you washed it, throw it in your laundry basket. While you may not notice it at first, if you continue to wear a dirty bra, the dirt can rub into your skin and cause irritation or break outs. You should plan on washing your bras every one to two weeks, but there is no hard and fast rule for this as there are a lot of factors in play. If you live in a hot climate, it stands to reason that you are probably sweating in your bras more than someone in a colder area and will have to wash them more frequently. However, if you have more bras to rotate through, there will be less strain on each of them and you can hold off on washing them for a bit longer.
Let’s begin to the washing process. There are two ways to was your bra by Hand and by washing machine.
- How to Hand wash Bras: Trust me “Not that complicated!”
Step 1. Fill the sink with lukewarm water
Start with a clean bathroom sink and fill it with cool or lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it can break down the elastics in the fabric and accelerate your bra’s fit loosening.
Step 2. Add Detergent
Add small amount of alcohol-free detergent (enough to work up a light lather). This prevents to let the residue or detergent stain on the bra.
Step 3. Soak your Bra
Let the bra soak for about half an hour before rubbing it gently between your hands to work in the lather.
Step 4. Rinse it
Rinse the bra in cool water until it runs clear, then squeeze out excess water. Do not squeeze or twist it while taking out from the water as it will stretch out the bra’s fabric.
Step 5. Remove excess water using towel
Lay washed bra on the flat towel and press with another towel to remove the excess or remaining water.
Step 6. Air-Dry on Hanger
Always hang dry your bras. It is important for bras to be air dried because intense heat from a machine dryer will cause damage and affect fit. They’ll need at least a day or two to fully dry, so it is always a good idea to have plenty of other bras to wear while the washed ones dry.
2. How to wash using Washing Machine? “We get it Life is busyJ”
Step 1. Set the Delicate Cycle
Set your washer on a delicate cycle, and use cold water with an alcohol-free and gentle detergent.
Step 2. Use Mesh/lingerie bag
Use a mesh or lingerie bag to keep the bras from getting snagged on the machine’s agitator. Hook the back of your bras to keep them from getting tangled within the bag.
Step 3. Do not use Dryer
It always best way to dry the delicate using Air-drying method. Always hang dry your bras. It is important for bras to be air dried because intense heat from a machine dryer will cause damage and affect fit.
THE RIGHT WAY YOU STORE YOUR BRAS
Contrary to popular belief, you should not fold your bras in half and tuck one cup into the other, says Cuevas, save for all-lace bras. For the rest, lay them nice and flat so they retain their shape.
Note: If you’re worried that you have to do something special for your bralettes vs. your push-up bra, I have got great news for you is that the answer is a big “NO”. You can wash all your bras together, the same way.
Also I wanted to mention there are many times a question arises that how often do we need to replace our bras? So the answer for that, if taken proper care a bra should last for 8-9 months.
You are doing a Great Job taking care of your second skin intimates! Well Done…
